Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 is around 6 km from us — roughly 15 to 25 minutes by car, depending on the hour. That single number is why a steady stream of our guests are people who never intended to see Powai at all: they have a flight, and they need somewhere sensible to sleep either side of it.

The obvious choice is a hotel on the airport strip itself. Sometimes that is right. Often it is not, and here is the honest comparison.

The airport strip versus staying in Powai

Hotels immediately around the airport price for proximity, and they know exactly what they are selling: the last ten minutes. If your flight is at 5 AM and every minute of sleep counts, pay for it.

But most airport-adjacent stays are not that tight. A 9 AM departure, an evening arrival, a day between flights, a delayed connection — in all of those, the difference between "at the airport" and "fifteen minutes away" is meaningless, while the difference in rate is not.

What you gain by staying in Powai instead:

  • A neighbourhood rather than a service road. Somewhere to eat, shops, a lake promenade — the airport strip has hotels and traffic.
  • Rates that are not indexed to the runway.
  • Somewhere you can actually work if you have a day between meetings.
  • Access to the rest of the city. If your trip also involves L&T, SEEPZ, Powai’s IT parks or NESCO, Powai puts you next to them; the airport strip does not.

Who books us for airport reasons

Late landings. Flights into Mumbai arrive at every hour of the night. Our front desk is staffed 24×7, so a 2 AM check-in is routine — tell us the flight number when you book and we will expect you.

Early departures. The reverse case. Tell the desk the night before and a cab will be waiting; you do not want to be negotiating with an app at 4 AM.

Long layovers and forced overnights. A misconnection or a long gap between flights. Fifteen minutes each way buys you a real bed, a shower and a meal instead of an airport bench.

Crew and repeat travellers who fly through Mumbai often and want a predictable base rather than whatever the booking site surfaces that week.

Business trips that start at the airport. Land, sleep, and be at L&T or SEEPZ the next morning without crossing the city.

Families flying out together, where one room for three costs considerably less than two rooms near the terminal.

Getting between here and T2

  • Roughly 6 km, 15–25 minutes. The spread is traffic. Off-peak it is a quick run; between 8 and 11 AM or 6 and 9 PM, take the upper end seriously.
  • Give the driver the landmark: "Saki Vihar Road, opposite L&T Gate No. 6, Powai." Saki Vihar Road is long and "Powai" alone will not get you to the door.
  • Prepaid taxis and app cabs both work well from the terminal.
  • T1 (domestic) is also a short run from here.
  • For a morning departure: we suggest leaving 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, plus a traffic buffer if you are travelling in the morning peak.

Our directions page has the full picture — metro, rail, highways and BKC — if you are arriving by something other than a flight.

What we do for flight-driven stays

  • 24×7 front desk. No arrival time is too late.
  • Cab arranged in advance for early departures — tell the desk the night before.
  • Luggage held after checkout if your flight is in the evening and checkout is at 11.
  • Early breakfast where we can, if your departure is before service begins.
  • Quiet rooms on request — say so at booking if you are catching up on sleep after a long flight.
  • GST invoices on every stay, with company billing — useful when the airline or your employer is paying.

Which room for which trip

  • One night either side of a flight: the Cedar Deluxe — twin beds, work desk, fast Wi-Fi. Maximum 2 guests.
  • Family flying together: the Banyan Trio, up to 3 guests in one room.
  • A few days between flights, or a longer trip: the Teak Studio with kitchenette.
  • A long-haul recovery day: The Mahogany Soak, the one room here with a full bathtub.

A note on booking for someone else

Travel desks and family members book these stays constantly on behalf of a passenger who is already in the air. If you are doing that, send us the flight number and landing time on WhatsApp rather than just the date — we will keep an eye on the arrival and have the desk ready.

Frequently asked

How far is Lake Bloom Residency from Mumbai Airport?
Around 6 km from Terminal 2 — roughly 15 to 25 minutes by car depending on traffic. Terminal 1 is also a short run.

Can I check in at 2 AM after a late flight?
Yes. The front desk is staffed 24×7 and late arrivals are routine. Share your flight details when you book.

Can you arrange a cab for an early morning departure?
Yes. Tell the front desk the night before and a cab will be waiting at the time you need.

Can I leave my luggage after checkout if my flight is in the evening?
Yes, luggage can be left with the front desk.

Is it worth staying in Powai rather than at the airport?
For a very early flight where every minute matters, an airport hotel makes sense. For most other cases — evening arrivals, mid-morning departures, layovers, or a trip that also involves Powai or Andheri East — fifteen minutes further out costs meaningfully less and puts you in a real neighbourhood.
