Powai is the Mumbai that visitors don't expect: a lake with crocodile folklore, a university campus that feels like a forest, and a skyline that looks imported. Here's how to spend two days in it — from a hotel that's watched the neighbourhood grow since 2010.

Day one: the lake side

Start at Powai Lake before 7 AM, when the light is soft and the joggers own the promenade. Walk the Hiranandani stretch for breakfast cafés, then spend the afternoon inside IIT Bombay's campus — the lakeside road through it is one of Mumbai's calmest walks. Evening belongs to Hiranandani Gardens: high-street shopping, and restaurants covering everything from coastal thalis to wood-fired pizza.

Day two: eat like a local

Powai's food story runs wider than its malls. Hunt down the street-side vada pav stalls near the L&T market lanes, book a lakeview café table for lunch, and end at one of the microbreweries that have made Powai a weekend destination for the rest of Mumbai. If you'd rather stay in, our restaurant serves a buffet breakfast every morning and in-room dining through the day.

Where to stay

The five-star towers charge five-star prices for the same lake air. Lake Bloom Residency — a renovated boutique 3-star hotel opposite the lane of L&T Gate No. 6 — puts you ten minutes from Hiranandani and fifteen from the lake promenade, at an honest rate. Couples take the Cedar Deluxe; the Mahogany Soak, our signature room with the house's only bathtub, turns the weekend into an occasion.

Getting in and out

Mumbai Airport (T2) is roughly 25 minutes away outside peak hours; Kanjurmarg station connects you to the Central line in fifteen. Check availability or WhatsApp +91 86524 06646 — direct bookings always get our best rate.
